An international client had a manufacturing process spanning multiple regions, with costs arriving in multiple spreadsheets. We were asked to build a system that standardised the process and attributed costs correctly to each product.
We worked with the CFO and COO to understand the cost structures and their priority by order of magnitude and legal impact, and separated the transition into phases to keep operations running. The first phase automated cost consolidation with code that emulated and validated the current process. The second integrated APIs with factories and third parties to retrieve and consolidate costs automatically in a database.
We saved a week of the CFO's time every month, freeing it for insight and decisions, and enabled automated reporting suites to be built on the back of the costing work, while smoothing the audit process.
