The situation.
The business was migrating a large amount of data, used in ongoing legal processes, to a new platform. We were asked to add a layer of assurance over the migration's risks, precautions and mitigations.
The process.
We took a top-to-bottom view of the overall risk themes and framed them in the context of the business processes, then identified and quantified the legal, financial, reputational, process and reporting aspects of the risk. We proposed areas for additional testing, added to the development team's mitigation list where we found gaps, and recommended pipeline strategies such as data-holding stages and testing simulations to minimise risk.
The outcome.
The work added a layer of data-quality and process assurance across the migration and de-risked the stages and processes carrying the most financial and legal impact.
